exchange of thing for thing : a sale or exchange of two commodities characterized by all of the following conditions: a. the goods and consideration in exchange thereof be of the same or nearly the same description (eg ‘wheat’ in exchange for ‘wheat’, or ‘wheat’ in exchange for barley’) b. the goods and consideration in exchange thereof be conventionally measured in terms of their weight c. one party to the transaction demand an excess of either of the two things to be exchanged (eg 100 kg of one quality of what to be exchanged for 110 kg of another quality of wheat)
